Madison International Realty is a leading liquidity provider to real estate investors worldwide. We are looking to hire a Tax Analyst for our Transaction Tax team. This individual will be a critical part of the wider Finance, Accounting and Tax Team and will work closely with our Global Head of Tax on all aspects of tax compliance as well as assist in tax advisory / structuring services for our internal and external stakeholder base.

Responsibilities for our Tax Advisory Analyst include:

  • Tax Reporting/Compliance:
    • Work with Global Head of Tax and service providers to manage/coordinate the tax reporting process for all of Madison’s funds (U.S. and foreign). This includes, but is not limited to:
      • US Income Tax Returns (fed / state and local);
      • US REIT Compliance;
      • Non-US Tax Returns (e.g., Luxembourg, Germany, Netherlands, UK);
      • Non-US Reporting Regimes: FATCA / CRS / MDR – DAC 6 / ATAD I-III
      • Gatekeeper of WHT (e.g., W-8, W-9s) for Madison and its Investors; and
      • Transfer Pricing.


  • Fund / SMA Transaction Support:
    • Become “Master of Facts” on US and non-US deals (buy-side, sell-side, restructure) and provide team with notes, preliminary views on tax issues/implications.
    • Prepare structure chart alternatives for contemplated transactions
    • Own due diligence process (i.e., request lists, JVA / PSA / Side Letters) on transactions.
    • Work w/ investment team on layering in post-tax IRR to underwriting to understand tax implications for GPs/LPs.
    • Assist with IC memoranda preparation.


  • ECM / Fundraising Support
    • Assist with investor due diligence process during fundraising.
    • Draft initial responses to investor tax inquiries


  • GP/LP Tax Estimates and Cash Management:
    • Facilitate Flow of Information between Asset Management / Portfolio Managers / Controllers / Corporate Finance Team / Big 4 firm for all Long-Term Hold Fund models:
      • Improve accuracy of taxable income estimates for GP and LPs
      • Support cash management process with F&A team.

Qualifications for our Tax Advisory Analyst include:

The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced financial professional with:

  • 4-6 years institutional tax compliance experience via public/private accounting experience (at a Big 4 preferred), preference of real estate clients. Some tax advisory/structuring experience a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and presentation skills in a fast-paced high-pressure environment
  • Ability to establish credibility with finance, investments/portfolio management teams on identifying identification, prevention, monitoring and detection, resolution of tax compliance issues
  • Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong academic credentials from a top undergraduate business program, preferably with a major in accounting or finance. JD/LLM or MBA a plus.
